Snow formations in the creek Just a couple pictures from the last month or so.  We have had pretty consistent snow since the New Year began.   It got deep enough that I began skiing and snowshoeing in the creek, rather than the flats.  All that changed this morning.  We had a icky wet week, with above freezing temps.  But last night it dropped to 25 and the blank fields of snow are now crusted and easy to ski (or run if you are Sunshine). Lyle is busy moving snow and getting ready to put new wood floors down in the living area of the West Cabin.  The basement in the Log Cabin is nearing the painting stage! Not a bad life!  Sunshine has enjoyed visiting with all her summer friends, and hopes she meets some new ski partners this winter!  

The Tetons have enjoyed a very warm and surprisingly long Summer.  We lucked out and had some rain in July and August, to cool things down a touch, and keep everything green.  We still haven't had a frost, but I expect one any day.  The days are a little shorter, kids are back in school and the roads and trails are thinning out.  September and October are still great months to visit the Tetons if you are interested in wildlife and scenery and cool sunny days for hiking.  The biggest question this time of year is when are the leaves going to change, and will it be a wonderful show.  They are just beginning to change now. Fingers crossed that it will be a beauty, but I would take a couple more weeks of this weather.  Highs in the low 70s or high 60s, nights that cool to 40, scattered showers and the occasional thunderstorm, with bright blue skies in between! The Kitchen got a new look, and it has changed how we live.  We hope you like it as well as we do! 

We often have people ask for further pictures of the cabins and we will continue to try to provide them. The  West Cabin Living space.  The picture is taken from the sliding door that goes out on to the large wrap around deck.  It is the other side of the room pictured on the web site with the table and built in bench.  A very bright and comfortable space. Log Cabin library.  This is the other half of the large living space in the cabin.  On my left as I take the picture is the dining room table. This is the West Cabin guest bedroom.  The master bedroom is very similar, though a little larger and there is a window above the pillows as well as the West wall.  Both these rooms have Teton views from the pillow! Looks like winter is coming.  Over the last couple days we have had much needed moisture in the valley that gave our beautiful mountains a fresh layering of snow.  We even got a dusting in Moose that is sticking around.  While we are stacking wood and preparing for winter at the Log Cabin, the West Cabin is ready for a guests.  We had a lovely family this weekend, and another the ten days before.  They both found fares through into Idaho Falls and enjoyed the off season quiet. We would love to have the cabin available for Thanksgiving, Christmas and the Cross-country and Alpine Touring ski season, but may end up putting it back on the long term market for this winter. If you would like to come out for a week or just a long weekend, let us know.  There is something very special about winter in Moose.  

It seems like it was just yesterday that the grass turned green and the bison returned to graze in the yard!  We had a beautiful summer, warm and sunny almost everyday.  While this was not great for fire danger, it allowed for many days on String, Leigh and Jackson Lakes, as well as many hikes in the Tetons. As always, the view from our deck is one of our favorites.  Now Fall has arrived, and we are back in the Log Cabin getting ready for winter.  The days have remained beautiful, cooling off to the 30s at night. Lyle is busy doing some maintenance on the cabin, and just finished this lovely patio walkway.  I will have to fill the patio space with firewood shortly, but am enjoying the sunny lunch spot until then. We have guests in the West Cabin into October, but the tipi dwellers are gone for the season.
